Gurdwaras are so NOT LIKE CHURCH. People sit on the floor and listen to music, sing along, and also listen to speeches, usually not in English. Gurdwaras, for Westerners, feel more like music festivals. There is a crowd bustle, and sound systems that often need, to our ears, to be turned down a notch or two.
