Who Is The Leader Of The Sikhs? by Harjinder Singh

Sadh Sangat Jio,

Vahiguru Ji Ka Khalsa  Vahiguru Ji Ki Fateh

As you know the late Harbhajan Singh Yogi claimed to be the leader of the Sikhs in the Western Hemisphere and our ‘own’ Bhai Mohinder Singh, ‘Chairman’ of the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha claims to be the spiritual leader of the Sikhs in the UK.

Then of course we have various jathedars, pardhans, other sant babé and so on and so forth, who all claim to have the right to lead us.

Let me tell you something which should not be new to you : Ultimately our Leader is The One, The Formless, The All Pervading, The All Powerful. And our Guru, since Guru Gobind Singh passed away, is Guru Granth & Guru Panth.

I do not want to put Bhai Mohinder Singh in the same corner as crook babé like Daljit Singh Chicago Wala, or even worse ’Sant Baba’ Amar Singh. In many ways his establishments in Handsworth, Leeds and Hounslow are well run organisations that provide a good service to the community. (Of course they do not follow the Reht Maryada, but that is the norm rather than the exception these days).

Gurfateh,

Harjinder Singh
